What We Believe

Core Beliefs

All are welcome to attend and volunteer at New Hope, even if you are still working to understand and agree with the Bible’s teaching on the elements of this Statement of Belief. We expect members will be unified by and live their lives in a manner consistent with this Statement of Belief.

We believe the Bible is the only adequate guide for living a Christian life. We hope the following statement of belief will help you become better acquainted with the preaching and teaching emphasis you are likely to encounter at New Hope.

Jesus

We believe that Jesus Christ is God's only son who died for our sins and arose from the dead.
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the infallible, inspired Word of God - "...a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path."
2 Timothy 3:16, Psalm 119:105

Mankind

We believe that every human has worth as a creation of God, but "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God."
Romans 3:23

Salvation

The Bible teaches that the pattern to follow to receive Jesus as your Savior is to believe in Christ as God's Son and Savior of the world, to repent of personal sin, to confess Jesus as Lord, and to be immersed in baptism. Check out these resources to learn more.
John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9, Acts 2:38

The Church

We believe the mission of the church is to reach the spiritually lost for Christ, to teach with the goal of "forming Christ in them" and then to mobilize believers to accomplish God's mission in the world.
Matthew 28:16-20

Christ's Return

We believe that the Bible teaches that Christ will return one day as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Marriage

The Bible teaches that God intends for marriage to be a monogamous, life-long loving relationship between a man and a woman and that His design for sex is exclusively within the context of a Biblical marriage.
Genesis 1:28, Genesis 2:24, Genesis 9:7, Matthew 19:6

Elders

The Bible teaches that it is God's plan for the elders to shepherd the church.
1 Timothy 3:1-7, 1 Peter 5:1-4

Baptism

We believe that baptism is an integral part of a believer's faith journey.

Communion

The Bible teaches that believers who have carefully examined themselves should partake of the Lord's Supper. In following the pattern of the early church, we take communion together each Sunday at New Hope.
